I’m Danielle, a Navy veteran turned hairstylist whose path to beauty wasn’t traditional—but it was always driven by purpose. During my years of serving, I found struggling in wanting to be a great Sailor and still maintain my feminism. This was circa 2010’s when the beauty youtuber craze was in full swing and I loved escaping from my military life and playing with makeup, styling my hair and always pushing the envelope.

When I decided not to re-enlist I found myself, in the middle of one of the biggest life changes I’d ever faced. I went to college a few times and never felt sure about it. Then one day my childhood hair stylist and amazing family friend asked me if I would be a receptionist at her salon. Here is where I realized the potential that lived in the industry, that ART is a “real job” and that you can be exactly who you’re meant to be.

I inevitably found my way to cosmetology school. It was there that Shears & Foils was born—not as a polished brand name at the time, but as a reflection of a girl starting over, building something entirely her own. What began as a student project during our Social Media portion of school became the foundation of a career I fell in love with—styling, artistry, and the magic of bridal. Over the last 5 years, Shears & Foils has evolved into a brand that embodies timeless beauty with a modern, editorial edge. The name may not scream “bridal,” but it carries my story, my grit, and my growth—and that’s why it remains.

Today, I specialize in creating radiant, polished looks for brides and fashion-forward women who want to feel unforgettable in their most important moments.
